Couples Therapy
Sometimes seeking support from a third party can help reclaim the love in a relationship or marriage. Learn communication skills, parenting skills, or simply how to reconnect with your partner. External life stressors can be detrimental on a relationship, however there is the opportunity to work together to navigate those road blocks.
Doing couples therapy depends upon the nature of difficulty and what the two individuals are wanting for the relationship. As in any psychotherapy experience, the clinician will first take a thorough history of the relationship. How long have you been together? How long has there been difficulties? What began the difficulties? What are the strengths within the relationship? What have you tried to date to heal the problems? Is there any other family involvement? Any trauma during the course of the relationship? What is the nature of the physical relationship? Any children? Is parenting causing any stress? What about financial stress or difficulties? Do you share basic values? What brought you together?
