Public Safety Division

EVALUATIONS FOR: POLICE/FIRE DISPATCH/PUBLIC SAFETY and FITNESS FOR DUTY
If you are interested in pursuing a public safety evaluation for your candidates(s), please call Dr. Anne Cooper at 978-921-4000 x 20. Dr. Cooper aims to provide the psychological testing as soon as possible, in most cases within one week or less after being notified of candidates needing to be evaluated. It is our understanding that both time and accuracy is "of the essence" in the field of public safety, and this is what you can come to expect of our service and collaboration with you. Dr. Cooper is also willing to help out and assist in any other ways in his capacity as a clinical psychologist. Ultimately, her goal is to be as collegial and service oriented as possible in working with your department and to provide excellence in doing so. We have a proven track record of satisfying clients from various police, fire, and public service departments.

At the Medical Psychology Center, we provide psychological evaluation services and programs for the following personnel:
  • Police Officer candidates
  • Firefighter candidates
  • Security candidates
  • Corrections officer candidates
  • Dispatch personnel
  • All public safety officials
  • We also conduct fitness for duty evaluations
  • Verbal report of results in 24 hours following evaluation
  • Written results provided within 2 weeks following verbal confirmation
  • We are familiar with, and utilize civil service evaluation criteria and also meet Department of Personnel Administration Standards
  • We have extensive experience in psychological testing and evaluation
  • Experience working with over 100 police, fire, and public safety departments across Massachusetts

We are able to provide psychological testing at our facility or at your site. If you can provide a quiet space/room, and have at least 3 candidates that require evaluation, we are willing to come to your department to conduct the evaluation. If you choose to use our facility, we are able to accommodate up to 8 candidates at a single time. Testing usually begins at 8 a.m., and concludes around noon for the candidate. Each individual evaluation is competitively priced at $450 per candidate, and this includes all services including evaluation, scoring and interpretation of test results, contact with the chief and/or department, and report writing. 

Anne Cooper, Psy.D.

Dr. Cooper is a post-doctoral psychologist at MPC and is currently completing post-doctoral requirements towards licensure as a clinical psychologist. She received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from William James College in Newton, MA. Dr. Cooper utilizes strengths based and humanistic approaches to tailor treatment for each individual client. She is experienced in treating individuals presenting with various clinical issues including depression, anxiety disorders, identity development issues, and adjustment disorders related to life stage transitions in a range of treatment settings. 

Dr. Cooper has a special interest in using creativity with clients, as well as outdoor behavioral healthcare, particularly regarding the effect of awe and connection to nature on overall mood and well-being.
